    Turbo or Supercharger

Im fixing up my 98 Tahoe and wanted to know if anyone on here has a supercharged or turbo4x4 gas ride. Right now is stock with a leveling kit and 285 tires with 3:42 gears. I having a 4.5 lift with 4:10 gears hoping that will give it a little more get up and go. Right now its sluggish. Rides great but no power. That's why Im thinking turbo or supercharger. Like some input and pictures if you have them.

For that application I would prolly use a centrifugal super charger. No redoing the exhaust and if you stay lowerish on the boost it should be ok on pump gas, depending on tuning.

Pro Charger makes some really good stuff

You would probably be better off with Heads / Cam / exhaust then you will be by boosting that motor. You wont be able to run very much PSI on the stock motor with stock internals. Given the age it probably would not last very long. How many miles on the motor?

depending on the miles racked up on that motor, if theyre pretty low look into a whipple charger

          Those new gears will help.

Im building a motor for it now. There is about 50k on the one that's in it now. Im hoping that the new motor and gears will get me where I want to be. But is they don't. Turbo or supercharger. I will use this to hunt and pull a trailer with my buggy and gear.

              Turbo or Supercharger

              Gears will help a lot.

IMO turbo is the way to go. Build the internals specific to a boosted motor and don't get crazy with the boost and your mileage won't suffer as much. Turbos are much more efficient than belt driven superchargers. Some of them require 50+ hp just to turn them. Plus the torque is usually better on turbo engines.

Supercharger should cost less. I would go that route just for instant power, no waiting for turbo to spool up.

With that motor I would do cam, headers, and a stall IMO.

Thanks for the help. Think I may just see what the motor will turn out before I put a turbo on it.. But a turbo on my hunting ride does sound cool.

You need a roots style supercharger on that rig. Better low end torque.

This is my daily driver. Yes, I know it is dusty under there. The air filter is clean though.

Superchargers are easier to install, don't go bad as easily, and are cheaper, but they rob a good amount of the power they produce. I prefer turbos, but I'm a diesel guy, and all the engines I work on at work are turbocharged.

If you go super, get a centrifugal or screw so you don't need an intercooler.

We're all talking about a torque converter in regards to stahl/stall? correct?
If we are, can you please elaborate on why you say stahl is the correct spelling?

This is Texas. You need an intercooler or meth/water injection.
