... somebody referenced a paper a while back about the % turn over in a quail population year to year... it was CRAZY high... dang it now I gotta get to googling it was a good read.

Our blues have disappeared just like the article suggests the last 4-5 years. Plentiful up to October then boom.......gone.
We are covered up with them right now......hope they survive this year.

Lack of native grasses/weeds is a huge reason. Most ranches have improved their land with planting grasses that don't benefit quail.

They're an extremely delicate bird.
Annual mortality is upwards of 80%.
They are, however, resilient..
