theres a loophole. you see, when I was boarding, away from everyone else, they make you stand back and wait for a seat to become available. Then they asked for volunteers. I figured, heck, if Im not going to make the flight anyways, ill hop on the voucher, so I did. Plane leaves, then I ask for the check.

    Winner!

no. you have to take it, BUT, if you are the first one/only one with a confirmed seat but no seat, you have em in your back pocket. What are they going to say when the plane is leaving WITHOUT a paying customer? no? Bring it on. Pay me.

Truly though, they have gotten out of hand. I still cant believe they did that to me. I was FURIOUS last night and this morning. Worse, I had plans today, and its tough to rearrange personnel for these plans. Hotels are paid for, rental, etc. They all went by the wayside and they didnt care.

Just goes to show you, they dont care about you or your "status" as a loyal customer. They will take advantage of you just as easily.

I miss Continental as well. I can always tell which crew is Houston based and which is not. For the longest time, I avoided airbus aircraft when booking flights because I knew that was the old United equipment/crew. Not sure if that makes a difference any more.
Those of us that were Continental employees (known as EX-Cons) agree and sympathize with you folks. I could say more but it could get me in trouble.

Ive talked to quite a few ex Continental employees and was told unanimously that since the merger, the Continental employees were treated as second class employees. United employees would boss them around thinking they had the upper hand and were rude, etc etc. And to be honest, when you spend enough time in an airport, you can tell. I remember Continental very well, had family with them. They have since gone to Southwesas or gotten out of the industry.

You dont have to say anything, Ive heard it and seen it first hand. Its true.

Yes / no. They start the bidding process. If it is a low count they may offer $200. Having membership also gets a little higher once you get to the counter. If no one takes the offer they will bump it up...I've heard them offer $500.

oh yeah, if there is a premier customer that is standing there, they'll offer the moon to get that guy on. But if you are aware of whats going on, you can play the game.

Think, they offered $400 for a flight that was valued at $344. make sense? nope.

but when you look at it as $1300 vs $400, it makes sense.

What they DONT take into consideration is that it costs US money to rearrange schedules and reservations. Tomorrow is going to suck. Packing two days worth of work in 1 day.

                    Still mad..
