    Weekend At The Ranch

Went to the ranch in Santa Anna this weekend to finish up a couple of projects. We put in a watering station for the animals. For some reason the pics didn't come out. We used a tote & horse waterer from tractor supply. Looking forward to seeing what uses it. Also the pond is finished. We had about 1 & 3 tenths inch of rain last week so we have a little water in it. The sendero work is done too. Time to slow down & get ready for dove hunting now. The pond pics don't show it good but we are looking at a little over 3/4 of an acre when full. Fingers crossed. LOL! Will be an expensive hole if it don't hold water. LOL! We made it as deep as we could so we would have water in dry times ,but it has shallow water when full. Also had an area opened up a little more where we planted a small food plot last season. The deer used it pretty good so hopefully we can get a little more growing this fall. Pigs are thick on the cameras ,but are moving mostly at night. We are gonna have to work on that next trip! I see some night hunting coming up.

Here is a view from across the pond. Water will back into the trees when full.

The Family Killer inspecting her domain! LOL!

One of the senderos cleaned out

The area we had cleaned a little more for a food plot.

To the right we had another sender cleaned out for a better shooting lane.

Doves are gonna love that waterhole without any weeds around it.

Steve, the other 3 ponds on the place always have ducks on them ,so hopefully this one does too. Gonna put a couple of pits on it if it works out.

Doves are thick right now. Native sunflower fields in the area are loaded. We have an unharvested wheat field & the doves are getting in it good now, hopefully holds them like last season. It was dang good.

THANKS! We have our fingers crossed on it holding water. There are 2 more ponds real close & both have never went dry from what we have been told.

You should be good to go then. Talk about a dove magnet the way it is right now. I gotta get up to Santa Anna again and pick up four more rocking chairs.
