    HELP! Stuck in Luling, mechanic?

    Anyone know a mechanic in Luling area willing to come out and help me? On way home from deer lease with dad and 4 yo daughter. Stopped at Bucees to fuel up. Truck running fine, started back up after fueling, Parked it. Went inside and came back out. Started for about 5 seconds and died. Won't start back up. Turning over, batteries seem fine but won't crank.

    06 Chevy duramax. Have a 20 foot trailer attached with my ranger also. Any advice or someone I can call?

    Sounds like either fuel filter or pump. If you can turn the key on while someone listens near the fuel fill, you should be able to hear the pump pressurize the line. If that sounds ok, then find the filter and check the output side for flow.

        Try manually pumping some fuel into the filter. On top of where the fuel filter screws in (passenger side of the engine bay) there is a bleed screw and a hand pump. Unscrew the bleed screw a bit and pump until fuel comes out and then close the bleed screw and pump more until you build up pressure. Then try and start it.

        When's the last time you changed the fuel filter?

          I just did this right before I checked this and it started. It's been within 10k miles. That's when I usually change it. Do you think I'm safe to go?

            My father Inlaws Chevy did the exact same thing this week. He continued to push the primer for an extended time and it finally started. Try continuing to prime it and crank it. The primer on his was on the passenger side near the firewall.

              Should be good to go. How low were you when you filled up? You could have just sucked in a little air if the fuel level was super low. If not super low I'm not sure what happened. You may have gotten bad fuel somewhere too that clogged up the filter, had that happen to me in New Mexico before.

                I wasn't low. Half a tank. But I've turned it on and off several times and it's started back up. Think I'm just gonna go for it

                  Yeah I think you should be fine. I'd probably put a new filter on when you get home to be safe.
