Judging Axis

I am a newbie to seeing axis on hoof. I am afraid i'll see one with horns taller than a whitetail, crap on myself and shoot a young one. Any help would be great.

I would probably shoot the first one that had bigger horns than a whitetail myself...........I did learn a lot from tuhdoc's and Krivoman's threads on how to pass up a monster axis to wait on the one you were looking for.........
