    Nightmares about forgetting release.

I am headed to Utah next week for archery Elk and my biggest fear is forgetting my release at camp. Other than a zip tie or taking a spare what is your secret to overcoming this tragic mistake?

Does yours fold back out of the way? I rarely take mine off. I wouldn't go out of your way to buy a new release at this point, but I'd make dang sure I have a spare... or two.

if my release is not on my hand, it is wrapped around the grip of my bow...

If I have my bow, I have my release!

Yes sir, it folds back. Do you have it on around camp?

I keep mine on my gearshift in my Jeep, and I've yet to leave it. I keep a spare in the glovebox, and I carry a thumb release in my pack. When I'm out hunting or at camp it's either on me or on my bow.
I don't find that it gets in the way very often.

If you're worried about it, either attach it to the bow as they mentioned, or just don't take it off.

I buckle mine around the strings and cables of my bow.

When I use a wrist strap, I just buckle it around my bow. That is pretty fool proof until you forget to do it....

I always have my primary release on my hand or on my bow, and my back-up is always in my hunting pack

Leave one in or on all your stands

Always have a spare. Put it in your bow case and never take it out.

Buy an extra and keep it with you at all times.

True except this horseback spot and stalk.

I think I will leave it on, and when I return to camp I will secure around my strings as suggested.

I keep a backup in my small day pack, which is a repurposed camelbak. I carry water, food, thermacel, toilet paper, spare release, calls, and flagging tape for tracking. I've left my release in camp once and was so thankful for the backup.

I usually buckle it around my riser so I don't forget, but the previous night I was so tired from the hunt I left it on my wrist till I got inside, took it off, and threw it on the night stand.

How hard is it to secure your release to your bow? Do that and you will never be without one.

I have a hand held release, I clip it onto the arrow rest chord, it stays there until I take it off and get set up wherever I'm hunting, then it gets hung off of the D loop.
