    Moultrie Game Camera Question????

As many of you have expressed, I am also loving the Moultrie I40! After years of Stealthcams, battery packs, solar panels, faulty circuit boards and inconsistent results.......I'm ready to make the full conversion to Moultrie. The first Moultrie I purchased has lasted over 4 months on 6 D batteries and captured over 4500 photos!!!

    QUESTIONS:

Are you guys having the same results with the non-IR version (Moultrie Game Spy Digital)? Does the flash negatively affect the batteries? What is the going rate for the "flash version" versus the "IR"?

    Thanks!

been looking at investing in the i40 myself. The main reason it seems to do so well with the batteries is the fact that it does not have a flash, which uses the batteries up. stick with the i40 infrared does not spook dear like a flash either. Some have complained on the flash some have not. i like the i40 and i am saving up to get one, just my 2 cents

      i have a m40 and a i40

      i40 was about $200
      m40 was about $130

cameras were set out for about a month and half

i40 took 1600 pictures with 88% battery life left
m40 took 1600 pictures with 80% battery life left

i have never had a problem with the flash spooking deer

so i guess it depends on what you want

Not a great deal of difference in how deer react to IR and whiteflash...it varies from critter to critter.

Now, if you move up to the true invisible flash of the Rc60 by Reconyx or the Appollo Black Flash by Buckeye, you are ensuring yourself of no reaction....and ensuring yourself of having a significantly lighter wallet as well.

I've got a few of the Moultrie 5.0 in the Cabela's box. They worked great all last season. Had to return one recently for minor issues. About the only thing I can complain about is that NONE of them can keep an accurate clock. But they function very well and battery life seems to be pretty good.

But I like my I40's better. Battery life is better plus you get the infared. Changing SD cards is a pain though. In the last few years I have gone from all StealthCams, to Moultrie 5.0's, and am now converting to the I40's and I50's. And don't waste your money on the one's that have that little viewing screen built in. You can't see crap on those little screens.

I have a ton of the non-IR ones and they work great. I think Cabelas has a sale on them now for around $79.00 and the solar panel and battery kit from Academy for $20.00 and your set.

I put 1 gig cards in mine and have a few extras, so I just walk up, pop it open swap cards and close her up.

            Works like a charm.
