    Sonos sound systems???

So, rather than resurrect Tubby's thread from a while back I though I'd ask the question again. Anyone have any input on the Sonos Sound systems?

Still thinking about trying this out.

Looks cool. They have em at Best Buy. I think they are expensive. Great for playing music from your phone or pad, but as far as I understand it, it will not connect to your tv/DVD.

Yea, from what I have read there is only one speaker that will connect to the tv. It's the Playbar speaker. And yes, I agree, they are a bit expensive.

IIRC, SONOS has been around for 10+ yrs and they are real big into promoting "wireless" sound systems. Basically speakers that function thru streaming or Bluetooth.

Honestly, I would hard wire everything and go with companies that have been around for awhile : Klipsch, Denon, Yamaha, Harmon Kardon, Polk Audio, Infinity, JBL, Wharfdale, KEF, Boston Acoustics, Cerwin Vega, etc....

Wall and ceiling speakers are very discreet and can sound incredible if positioned and properly tuned. I would have no problem buying separate brand names based on what you plan to use your system for: sports, live concert videos, cinema, movies, etc...

            hope that helps

I'm in the same boat and fixing to update my home audio system.
fixing to purchase this Denon recvr ... http://www.crutchfield.com/p_033AVX2...nd.html?tp=179

Klipsch RB-61's and RS-52II's will be my surround speakers. Likely a Sunfire, Martin Logan, or PSB powered sub.

I have the receiver that I use to stream music through my surround sound system. Works like a champ. Pretty cool setup and can be controlled through your phone.

I don't have any of the speakers but they sound pretty good in the store.

Yea, this is probably the way I will end up going. I just liked the idea of changing songs and turning the volume up and down by use of an ipod or phone. But, I also plan to have them pretty spread out around my back patio/yard. I'm really not sure the signal would be strong enough to support the distance.

I also looked into the Bose outdoor speaker systems. But they are pricey as well.

I sell the Denon. Great stuff. The new models that just came out have bluetooth and wifi built in. Awesome..... as for your question. I don't sell Sono's and I hate Sono's... but thats because I'm biased lol. They make a great product and there are many Sono's "killers" as we call them in the industry but none of them come close. Sono's is a great product unfortunately for my industry there is no money in them but thats a good thing for the consumer.

Cajun, FWIW ..... that 2000 is an older sku now. I would hold out for the new products unless you want to try and get the outgoing sku for a lower closeout price which may happen. I'd go with the new 900 series.

I have one that I used to run through the speaker system in my house and loved it. I have since got a RTI home automation system that does the audio but I recommend Sonos.
