how deep for an irrigation well

I'd like to try a DIY project to dig a well to hook up to my sprinkler system. Now keep in mind I have no idea what I'm doing here at the moment. I still need to do some research. Hell I don't even know how to hook it up to my sprinklers yet. But I'm sure I can figure it all out. maybe

My questions are, will I even find water, and about how deep do I need to go?

In live east of McKinney in Princeton, near lake lavon. Not sure if that helps

Your going to need to find someone nearby with a well to see how deep the water table is and how many gallons per minute it makes. You may be able to look online for water well permits in your area, either through the city to Austin. You will then need to calculate how many gallons per minute each of your stations on you sprinkler system will require, then you will either need a pond or a storage tank to pump out of, the size will be determined by how much water you will need and how much water your well produces.

If you are just irrigating a yard and you get enough water to operate your sprinklers as calculated like OrangeBlood said, all you will hned is a pressure tank. If you do not get enough water to operate the sprinklers , then you will need a holding tank of some kind and a pump.
