Got drawn to hunt alligator at J.D. Murphree sept. 10-11 any advise would be awesome. I'm beyond stokes first year to put in as an adult and I got drawn for one of the 4 I put in for!!!!

A small john boat is best, as this will allow you to access the compartments easier. In some areas you have to pull your boat over levy slides. The staff are very helpful, and a call to them in advance is a good idea. For bait, rotten chicken or beef melts works best. You need to let it sour, so the gators can smell it from a distance. They will provide the poles that you need and the lines and hooks if you desire. Since this is your first go around, I would advise not setting your bait too high, so you are more likely to get a gator. I've seen people set them so high that Godzilla couldn't reach it. They went home very disappointed. A .410 is the recommended weapon. Handguns are prohibited.
