    A couple questions???

    Question 1.

I started my 10 yo out using his fingers to shoot. He shoots almost every day and is getting a lot better. At what point do I switch him over to a release? I think it would help his consistancy what do you think?

    Question 2.

How far do you feel comfortable making a shot on a deer? And how tight are your groops at that range. I guess basicly I am asking how tight do you think a groop needs to be consistantly to take a shot at that range?

I dont like to shoot more that 25 yards {alomost all of my shots have been 15 yards or less}. I must be able to hit a paper plate consistently {that is the size of a kill zone} at any range or i wont shoot it. I have let animals walk that i could have normally hit, because the wind was too strong and I didnt feel comfortable. Regarding the release, i think it would be easier for him than fingers because he can then use his arms and shoulders to draw versus having to rely on strong fingers to hold his draw. Good luck. Start him with a release as soon as possible, if that's what you want him to end up shooting.
I shoot 6 inch groups ar 60 yards, but I've limited my shooting at deer to 27 yards to this point.
I feel like I'm half as good on deer as I am on a target-I'm excitable.

Rocky has pretty much summed it up IMHO.

I'm going to keep my son shooting fingers and no sights as long as I can. If I can teach him to shot instinctively, that's the way I am going to head with him. If you insist on your son shooting a release look at the Winn free flight with the extra small glove.
