    Hypothetical Question

Let's say you're hunting public land, or on your lease for that matter. Out of no where a giant buck comes blowing out of the woods. You shoot him and shortly after a dog comes running down the same trail.

Obviously the dog was running the deer, BUT you where not hunting deer with dogs. Are you at fault legally speaking for shooting a deer in front of a dog?

Nope, you are not equipped with a crystal ball...

      I wouldn't think so.

I would dang sure hope not.

I would also hope when the GW showed up that the dog wasn't following me around like he was mine!

              Secondary Question

If said deer where to net the minimum requirements for B&C, would this deer be eligible?

I would think so because as far as you know the deer could have been running from a coyote and you didn't do anything unethical especially considering you didn't know a dog was chasing it at the time

If that happens...I'd suggest keeping the part about the dog out of your application for the record books.

In the VERY unlikely event this ever happens to me, I will not leave out the info. Same as several of the deer I killed with lighted Nocks that aren't eligible for P&Y. Rules are rules, be it club rules or state/ federal.
