Full replacement bumper or grill guard?

New 2014 F150 4X4. Would you put a full replacement bumper/grill guard or just a grill guard on this truck?

Your call. If you go the full replacement get one that replaces the bumper top cap. The ones that leave it are horrendous looking

I have heard tell that full replacement front bumpers are tough on a stock 1/2 ton suspension. If you go that route I would look into beefing up your front end.

If you add a lift I think it would look good with a full replacement. At stock height it just doesn't look good to me.

As an adjuster i see a lot of front end damage and in my opinion the replacement has purpose and the guard is for looks. Course it will add weight to the front end of a 1/2 ton

I would be somewhat worried about the 1/2 ton truck being rated to carry the full replacement bumpers. I know they are a lot heavier that the thin metal that they come with. It may not be an issue at all though. Just my opinion.

Check these out, they don't seem to be that heavy.

Been putting front replacements on 2 half tons, an S10, and even a Jeep and never had a problem. Took out a deer at 70 with only minor damage that I could repair myself. Strain is even running that very bumper on his half ton.

As far as guards go, if you get a good one like a Ranch Hand, they work. My dad had an 03 Dodge half ton and took out 2 or 3 deer with it without any problem. I think he hit his doing about 55 or 60, but don't quote me on it. You'de have to ask him (jhuckaby).

However, on the other hand, he (my dad) knew a body shop guy who said that most of the truck that come in with replacements and guards on had more frame damage than the ones that only had the stock bumpers.

All that being said, here is my 07 Chevy. Heavy built, and I aint worried. just a little crank on the torsion bars and its like its not there. Doesn't handle any different than it did with just the brush guard.
