Good Jon Boat deal or no?

I have a friend that offered me her Jon Boat for $800 last week. It has a good running 25 horse Evinrude and boat is riveted. She has no title, but registration card and said she has never had a problem registering.

I'm sure I could possibly pick it up for $600. Is it a good buy with no titles and how would that affect me?

As long as the boat was titled to her at some point you can get a title. If not getting a title from tpwd is like pulling teeth. I would never buy a boat with out a title period.

I think it's a real good deal if the motor runs good

That's the hold up for me....not titled to her and no knowledge of history. Nobody to apply for lost title.

Who's name is the boat registered in?

I will find out...not sure if it's her or no. Assuming not since she is not title holder.

There used to be way to look up the tx number on the boat and see who owns it. It was on TP&W site somewhere.

The motor is worth that much if it runs

My cousin turned me on to these folks a few years ago.
He buys lots of equipment and get titles through them when needed.
I got a title for a car I was givin and I believe it cost me about 100.
Title for that boat and motor should not be very hard and as cheap as your getting it it say worth the money

Well maybe not, I just looked through the website and it did not mention boats.

I have been through this before. As mentioned, it is kind of a pain but really not that hard. It is more time consuming than anything. Basically putting stuff in the mail, certified mail, and then waiting. If the previous owner does not respond after like 3 times, you show all of that to TPWD and that is your documentation to apply for a new title. That is the basics, but it takes a little more than that. If you want, send me a pm and I will give you all the details of what I had to do.

I went through the process before. It's a pain in the rear.
