This goes to show you that if there is a burn ban, just don't start a fire. There's plenty of ways to cook without an open flame.

Our county (Guadalupe) just reinstituted the burn ban here--and I have noticed very little green on the ground in the pastures the past 2 weeks--it's dry for sure.

Wait until they send him the bill for suppression cost. The Forest Service has the authority to send a Bill for Collection for all cost associated with putting the fire out and restoring the land.

Years ago a couple were traveling in their motorhome and were unaware their tow vehicle had a flat. They set about 4 miles of fire along a roadway.

Their bill was $4 million dollars.

Im trying to learn, how else do you cook in the middle of nowhere without an open flame? Not defending or saying he was right or wrong, just curious?

I'm not arguing with you as I'm sure it's true, but how is it possible for the Forest Service to send you a bill for doing their job that is paid for by the 'general public'? If it was intentional I could understand.

At the FD I work for we charge for a structure fire
Or medical even though the tax payer already pays for the service.

I don't think this guy needs to go to jail though
