    Arrow recommendations?

I live in DFW...and am needing some more arrows. I really gotta quit aiming at the same spot, it's stupid. Does the brand really matter? This is only my second year to bowhunt, so sorry for the stupid questions.

    29.5 draw, 64lbs

What do y'all suggest and where to get a good deal? Approximate pricing would be nice if you've bought some recently.

I make my own and it isn't hard. I like easton axis shafts. Get you a couple Arizona ez fletch jigs and you can do it yourself. Lots of info on here. Lancaster archery is good. If you buy arrows already made make sure they are at least offset fletch or have someone make them with helical fletching. Good luck.

I'd suggest whatever brand you're currently shooting. If you are already stacking em on top of each other, why change?

look at black eagle arrows, you simply will not find a better shaft for the money..................or more money for that matter.

What does helical fletching mean? I've had to replace 10 or so fletches, used the shrink wrap ones.

Cuz I'm shooting three different brands.

Some I bought from Wolfs Lodge in Little Elm, but he went out of business.

Helical means the fletch curves around the shaft to some degree. Imparts spin to the arrow. Kind of like a rifle bullet or football. Fly much better spinning or spiraling. Just like knuckleballs tend to dance all over the place. Most factory fletching is straight.

How much are you wanting to spend? Gold tip, Carbon Express, Easton, are all great arrows. If you are trying to save some coin and want to stay under 100 a dozen get the Gold Tip Xt hunter arrows. You will probably need the 7595 spine. Go and buy the jig that Doc was talking about and some blazer vanes. That way you can fletch your own arrows and fix ones you mess up. Right helical is a way to fletch an arrow. It puts the vane on in a right hand twist. Helps stabilize bh's.

Not to hijack the mans thread but maybe everyone can benefit.

Do you know if the gold tip hunters are helical from the factory?

Well with that said, I can't recommend Gold Tips enough. I shoot the Gold Tip Hunters in 7595 for 3D and hunting and have been very happy. So far I've shot 7 deer with them and all have been pass throughs, not one broken on an animal.

No they are not. They have a slight offset if I remember correctly

Don't get me wrong on the fletching, I have seen guys be successful with straight fletch. Most of them shoot 20 yards or so and take high percentage shots from stands. No problem. More of an issue at longer ranges. Think about it this way, if you had a target at 150 yards would you rather shoot a slug out of a smooth bore or a 130 grain bullet out of a rifled 270 barrel? Most factory fletching is straight or maybe a very slight offset. If the name runs straight down the highest point of the shaft then it's straight. If it is straight but slightly crosses the high ridge it is offset. If it wraps around then it's helical.
