    Buying New/Used Bow Advice

First, I am sure there are many other threads on this topic, I just haven't been able to locate them.

I haven't bought a new bow in 8 years and am currently using an old Mission X3. I am considering buying a new bow. I'm not sure what is in my budget, but am thinking I may have somewhere between $500-$700 depending on some other factors (bills and other stuff).

That being said, can I find a good bow for that range? Would it be better to buy a new bow like one of the Mission bows, or find a used Mathews (or similar top of the line bow), or wait until I can afford a new top of the line bow.

I just haven't looked in years, and I figured I would come here first before I went to the store and was sold a bill of goods by the salesman.

And yes, I know, I need to go shoot the bows and find the one that fits me best and I am most comfortable with. I plan on doing that, but I wanted some guidance on where I should start looking first.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes you can find a good bow in that range. If you think you want a top of the line bow with all the shiny accessories, I would wait a little longer and save the dough. You've already been shooting this one for eight years, no need to rush in to a purchase. I'm sure there will be a plethora of opinions but just go to a bow shop and shoot a few different models. You will get a feel for what you like and then you can save accordingly.

Go to a good bow shop and shoot everything. Then go to the Classifieds and see if there is anything there close to what you are wanting at hopefully a drastically reduced price. There's a bunch of folks on here that buy the latest and greatest new models and sell bows that are 1-2 years old.

To me, bows are like vehicles. Let someone take the first hit, and then take advantage of the price on a 2-3 year old bow. As long as the person didn't drop it out of a tree or down a mountain, no reason there should be any problems mechanically. Might have to replace strings, but like a truck, I'm now the same with bows. Won't ever buy another brand new one.
