I have heard a good heavy JHP works, but never tried it.. maybe like a 75 grain or any greater if any?

Ive killed a few pigs with a .223 AR using Barnes Vortx 55 gr bullets. Either this year or nect Ill let my daughter kill a pig or a deer with either my .223 or 300 Blackout AR. Its all about using the right bullets. For deer I would either use a heavier soft point like a 75 gr Hornady or a Barnes TSX in 55 gr.

I would never use FMJ for hunting. There are way better options available, such as the 55 grain Barnes tsx

Yep with 6.5 Grendel and 300 blackout.

Haven't hunted with my 5.56 but if I did I'd use either the 55 grain or 62 grain Barnes TSX bullets, or the cheapie Federal Fusions.

                Yep.
80 yards. 68 gr semi jacketed soft nosed .223. She jumped, ran through a bush, found her twenty yards beyond. Shredded both lungs, top of the heart, no exit.

My kids have both shot a few deer with mine in 223. Seemed to do the job just as good as a 30-06. Smae end result backstraps and hamburger.

I'm no bullet expert, but you guys surprised about no exit wound?

Not really. On mine the bullet went through both sets of ribs but fragmented just under the off side skin traveling about six inches downward.

With 223, I'm not really surprised
