    Hoyt owners...I have a question

1st off......if you feel the urge to bash Hoyt in this thread.....Keep your kisser clamped.

After finding a vibration last fall on my Hoyt UltraSport, I have looked and looked and looked.....guys at the BowZone have looked and looked. And last night Damian (Huntinfool) took one glance and found what was vibrating on my lower cam. It is a spacer between the cam and the limb on the axel. It floats back and forth ever so slightly, and apparently vibrates during the shot.

Have any of you experienced this? How have you fixed it. Any suggestions?

Aside from taking it somewhere to put it on a press, taking the axle out, and placing a new tephlon spacer in there (don't know where I will buy one yet), what would you do?

I saw something about this exact problem the other day on Tv. They replaced the spacer like you suggested. You can try putting string wax on it and work it in between the spacer for a temp. fix. I shoot a 75th anniv. powertec and have not seen this problem yet(hope i dont). Anyway, hope this helps.

I had the same problem with my ultratec I used to have, as a quick fix I tied a piece of serving around the axles by the spacer, it was a temporary fix that I ended up leaving alone cause it fixed the vibration....Stopped the vibration in the cam altogether....

        AMEN!!!

I would take it to a Hoyt dealer, put it in a press and get it fixed right. If you just put a temp fix on it, then you will be worrying about it all the time. My wife, mossyoakpricess shoots an Ultrasport and we haven't had that problem. But will surely keep it in mind if she starts having problems. It really shouldn't be hard to fix with a press and the right part in hand.

Teflon spacers or bushings shouldn't be all that much money either.

Keep us informed on what you decide to do.

That brings up another question.......anyone know of a Hoyt Dealer around Houston? lol

Great idea on putting some wax in there. It won't slow that cam down enough to make the bow shot out of timing, and will be a temporary fix until I can find someone with a bowpress to do it.

I would squeeze the limbs together by hand to make the space at the end of the axle. Then you can tie a piece of serving string between the limb and the E clamp. This should fix it and it will last.

I would if I could. But my bowhunting is all about economy. I don't own a single thing that wasn't bought from another TBH'er or off of ebay.

Ok, I take that back....S-coil and limb dampeners I bought at BPS.

I really want a newer model Hoyt....just can't justify parting with $400+. Shoot, I still owe $200 for last years lease!

OZ...Now that I remember that is exactly what I did to fix mine, squeezed the limbs together and tide serving between the limb and e-clip around the axle, It worked great and was barely noticable so I just left it alone....I have used the same trick on other bows just to keep the e-clip from spinning or vibrating....

Funny thing tho, I haven't had that problem on any of my Diamonds...sorry had to go for the dig....

Now that makes sense. I was worried about the serving getting under the cam, or something in there and messing everything up. I will have to pick up some serving and try that tonight.

Give us an update if/when it works...

I was kinda perplexed that I had a $700.00 bow and used a 2 cent piece of string to quite it down.

Ok Jesse, since I like you so much I won't say "go get a DXT", but instead will tell you to go see Scott at Viking Archery. If that guy can't fix it, it ain't broke.

Mike at Wood n Feather calls Scott when it gets into something he doesn't understand, and Viking deals Hoyt.
