    any car ac gurus?

Wifes car ac isn't working. Found the radiator fan not working properly so I changed it. Bought the do it yourself frean and checked the pressure and it was bouncing from low to alert. Whats that mean? Her car no longer idles really hard just boucing gauges and not cold air. Imput?

Did you try to charge it before you replaced the radiator fan?
Is the fan working after you replaced it, and if it is working, is it turning in the right direction. Does the car have a belt driven fan also?
What kind of car are we talking about?

Bouncing from low to alert could just mean the compressor is cycling on and off due to low freon.

Fan works properly now. It only has the one fan. I did not charge it. I changed the fan then hooked the can with the gauge on it to see if it was low and noticed the gauge was bouncing from the green add freon mark to the alert mark. Its an 07 pt cruiser.

You really need a proper pressure gauge to determine what the reading is, with what you have it sounds like it may be low on refrigerant.

Its the wifes I barely fit in the thing being 6'5". So without the proper gauges I probably shouldn't try to add the refrigerant myself?

You need to check ur high and low side pressures

Can't really see the compressor with the compact engine. I do hear a click noise though

Sounds like comp is cycling cause of low pressure, I would let alittle refrigerant in and see If the comp stops cycling and the gauge levels out

Ok. It was low. I started adding the refrigerant and the compressor stopped clicking and the gauge leveled out. Thanks for the help.
