Take him with you, I started taking my son to the lease before he was even born. His first official trip he was 6 months old, some of my favorite pics are of him sleeping in his carrier behind my blind while I was working on it. His favorite place to be now is the deer lease.

Id say....whatever is safe and is within their attention span.
this would be an example of NOT SAFE.

My son was with me on a regular basis by the time he was 3 with occasional trips before that.

Cuts into the actual bow hunting but 4 and listens is plenty old. I know other kids way older that I wouldn't take but my boy listens as well. This was last season at 4 years old

A little pre daylight nap(I didn't take the picture while I was asleep the flash was just bright)

You'll notice he puts on his own boots lol

Take him and teach him everything you know Donald.

A few years from now both of you will be glad you did......

I took mine this past season, he had just turned 4. Brought an iPad and let him apply some face paint because they like doing stuff like that. He only lasted about an hour and a half but he still talks about it. I just made it fun and had no realistic expectation of seeing deer or killing anything, although a small doe came in and I almost got her with my bow until she winded us.

We made silly faces and more importantly we made some memories.

Those 2 boys are fortunate to have Dads like you two Jake & Daniel.

                  Good work Fellas...

I think you did right by asking but moms carry a bigger stick. Maybe mom just wants to go along.

I hunted up until I went into labor with our youngest. Then 2 weeks later, I was back in my treestand. Obviously he didn't go with me to the stand that year (went to the lease though) but the next fall, you bet he was in a box blind with me at 10 months old! He's never stopped going with one or the other of us.

As soon as my 3 boys stopped pooping in their pants, were able to listen and articulate their needs... they came to deer camp . 4 or 5 is about right.
