Ridgid or DeWalt?

I all my corded tools are dewalt. My cordless tools are makita.

Ten years ago I got an 18v cordless rigid. It worked like a champ for ten years thru 3 batteries. I went to buy a fourth battery and it's no longer available. Only choice was to buy new battery and new charger for about $155!

Opted to invest new with a Dewalt 20v.

Both are great drills but technology left my behind...

I use a dewalt at work and its a ****** drill has the hammer drill option and works great. For my personal cordless I went with rigid as well because of the warrenty so far I'm happy with it.

Rigid and yes things have changed. U dont return to home depot u contact rigid and they will tell u where to take/mail product for repair or replacement. wherever is closest to ur house. Lifetime warranty means forever! U just need to fill out warranty online after purchase

Rigid makes a very good drill imo. I am sure their other tools are good as well. For around the house either one will probably serve you well. I do think the Ridgid batteries are a little better though.

I use battery drills all day everyday. I tried Rigid and kept breaking gears. They were always warranted but it was a pain to take them back. After using Makoto for a while their batteries don't seem to hold up well. Currently been using Dewalt for about a year now and am pretty happy with them. I tend to abuse them by using them in ways they are not intended to be used like drilling 2" holes with a hole saw but so far Dewalt has taken the abuse.

I would say DeWalt due to experience with them, but lifetime warranty is intriguing.

Dewalt. I bought Rigid for everything for a time. Their cordless drills were great, but the batteries were terrible. I charge my dewalts maybe every other weekend, the Rigids got to where they wouldn't make it through half a day and wouldn't hold a charge for a few days with no use. Miter saw fence bent and bent my blade. Was fixed under lifetime warranty, but had to take it to the repair place and pay $50 which was refunded. Saturday I went to change the velcro pad on my sander and 90% of the rubber pad came off with it. Mind you, the sander is maybe 5 years old with very intermittent weekend use. I will NEVER spend another $1 on a Rigid power tool. Buy dewalt or Bosh.

Also on the lifetime warranty, you have to register the tool within so many days or you have nothing. That's not standing behind your product, that's enticing a customer to buy and trying to screw them out of what you promised.

Milwaukee or makida if you are looking for the real deal work every day grade.... I sell Milwaukee and rigid and dewalt at our store.... Milwaukee is hands down the contractor favorite.

Have had both now I'm with Ridgid due to the warranty. Cant beat sending in something to get fixed when you don't have to pay for it out of your own pocket.

All you guys with Rigid, how many have had to deal with the warranty? I was reading reviews on Home Depot's website and a lot of the reviews say that the warranty is a joke. If they honor the warranty, the replacement batteries are sub par. How true is that? Or are those just the cases where only the bad reviews get posted and the good ones fly under the radar?
