    Buck an does?

Where I'm at bucks and does don't coexist together until rut. They don't run together or even close to the same pattern what causes this? I would assume a deer herd would function closer. once the bachelor groups break up the bucks are loners and never feed with does unless the rut. Any theology to this?

Pretty much the norm....except we do have does and bucks feed together at our sets all year. The bucks will run the does off to save more for themselves during scarce food years but the bucks run each other off as well.

This isn't Disney with a family structure.....

Yeah but I've never seen my buck/does feed together does will completely move off before I even see a buck. An my bucks don't feed together either no bumping each other out just one leaves then another comes..... Plus I won't have a buck on cam till mid sept... I did have two bucks show week ago haven't seen them since

Sounds like you have some stuck up does? I wouldn't want to eat with a stuck up chick either

That's how our deer are. Unless it's time for the rut they don't seem to be around each other at all...

I was at my lease this past weekend and its the same up there. I checked my camera and it was mostly does with a few bucks, (including a very nice 10). Another lease member asked me to check his camera and it was a polar opposite, mostly bucks at his with just a couple of does.
It will all change by October though. Bachelor groups will break up by then I would think.

Heck I've had cameras up for 4 months and have seen a total of 1 buck on camera. I don't know what the heck is going on. The place I hunt is loaded with deer but they don't come to my feeders until September/October for some reason.

Bucks have their own feeders and does have their own on my places. There is one young doe that feeds with 3 bucks in a pen. Last year something got to her and she was very run down with scars all over her back. She has recovered nicely this year and hangs with the bucks. Some younger bucks will feed with does in some places during the summer.
