question is.. what would you use to stop the symptoms of stepping in a 3 foot tall bed of fire-ants, being bitten a gazillion times and using poison ivy leaves to wipe them off your legs with??

what ever the OP used to get to sleep tonight must be working, because the beer i'm using still has me reading threads on TBH currently....

Must have gotten some sap on you. Not many people know Agave plants are poisonous.

The agave leaves contain a sap that is toxic to humans and pets. Skin irritation and itching develops from rubbing against the plant in the form of contact dermatitis. Skin exposed to the sap turns red, burns immediately and will develop blisters in the contact area. If a child or pet is unfortunate enough to ingest agave, the sap irritates everything it touches including skin, lips, tongue and throat, with extensive swelling. Breathing may become difficult and medical attention is needed immediately.

Had the same thing happen to me a few years ago. Chain Saw seemed like a great idea until the burning started. It was miserable. I remember just sitting under the water hose trying to get the stinging to go away. I have an intense hate for those plants now. Every time I see one I begin to shutter.

When I was a young kid my Dad was trimming a blue agave we had with a machete and got some of the juice on the inside of his forearm. I remember his pain clearly to this day. It will getcha!

I think they leave a little bit of the sap in every bottle of Jose Cuervo.

Unfortunately I know the feeling. Tried chopping up an agave earlier this year with a machetti. Soon after I got the same rash you have but it was all over my arms. Hate to tell you but it took several days for it to begin getting better. And little over a week till it went away. It is some BAD stuff, I was shocked at how bad the pain/itching got. Apparently everyone reacts different to them. Some people are not bothered by them, others are. Try cortizone cream, it was the only thing I found that would make it a little better. I have several that are over grown and need to be removed but I will not touch them ever again.

haha am I being a whiner? I would prefer a huge cut open limb than 50% of my body constantly crawling, itching and stinging. It's more of constant annoyance than pain. It's like loud ringing in your ears! Starts to make you go mad after a while!

Give you 100 bucks if you CAN finish the job with a chainsaw and shorts?

I can't and don't want to imagine that much of my leg feeling like the little bit i have does

i get poison ivy often. not that i want it again but would take it before Agave again.

this stuff is helping. seems to be drying up quick. only a few spots still burn/itch.
