Yes sir, the way it is done back home. The only difference is, cook the shrimp longer on high temp to let the shrimp caramelized.

Recipe: Me & wife use the measurements listed below.

2 lbs shrimp (16 to 21 count Jumbo)
              1/2 cup of 7 up
              2 tbs sugar
2-3 tbs soy sauce (if you like soy sauce)
1/4 cup of cooking oil (less if you like)
pinch of salt & blk pepper (more if you like)

1, cook shrimp in 7 up and salt/pepper
cook on high (stove setting 8-9 on dial) 10min cooking on 7up should be long enough.
              2, pour out excess liquid.
3, add soy sauce, cooking oil & sugar, stir constantly to caramelized to your desire.
(The wife like a dark caramelized on shrimp so she cook it longer)
Remember, cook it fast & stir constantly specially when caramelizing the shrimp. Good eat folk, & don't forget the LDP's.

Yes, but after lickin the crunchy caramelized flavor off the shell, then peel. Be careful not to mistaken your finger for a shrimp, it's so delicious you'll want more even when your stuffed.

Why not peel first? Then you could just gobble.

FYI: Eating shrimp when you're drunk isn't the same as cooking them in beer.
