I'd cut the tips off with a pair of side cutters . Nothing I hate worse than a rooster .

Yes cut them but not with any type of plier, use a saw, cutters cause breakage and splitting which could cause the outer sheath to come off, then you'd be left with the core, which will be straighter and will still grow to a point, but will be semi soft and cause the rooster a lot of other problems. Or another option is to make chicken and dumplings and get a young replacement rooster.
