    feedback on JD Gator?

Just curious of you folks have any feedback on the diesel 4x4s...are they loud, do they haul well and how well do they do in the mud and/or rough terrain? ANY feedback appreciated and Thanks in advance!

i agree. my father in law has two of the ones that you are asking about and we have 2 of the gasoline models. if your tooling around the farm hauling feed or checking cows they would be okay i guess, but there are better options out there. unless you found a heck of a deal on one i'd pass.

I would have to agree with what was said above. Check out the electic BadBoy buggies. I was a bit sceptical at first when Judy wanted one of these, but now that we have it I am not sure I will ever have another petrol fired UTV. These things will go anywhere you wnat and some places you don't and they are as quiet as a whisper. All you hear is the rocks under the tires. Not nearly the top-in speed of the other models, but who is really in that big of a hurry at the lease anyway?

You folks have definately hit on some of my concerns. Thanks.

I, too , have an EZGO that I "tricked" out for hunting and couldn't be happier with it.

Yes, it is a heckuva a deal...kind of a bitter-sweet deal. A hunting buddy was served with divorce papers and has to start liquidating. Unfortunately, the Gator is 1 of the 1st things to go and I can make myself afford it, since it's to help a buddy in dire need. I've pretty much already bought it. I'm just deliberating on whether to keep it for while or just go ahead and turn it.

          Anybody else???

bar2hunter- I know it's not the same thing, but we just bought a Kawasaki Mule trans 4x4. The first thing we did is put a 2" lift on it and it made a world of difference. Ours is the gas model and while it isn't exactly a speed demon, it will climb anywhere and get us through some pretty nasty mud and creek crossings. We use it daily to haul our hunters and their hogs and it's worked out great for us. If you're getting it for a good deal, just keep in mind there's alot of after market stuff you can do to "pimp your gator" to make it do what you want.

              Great on good farm roads
Low payload can get stuck if you spit in front of the tires.

Now I havent been on one of the newer ones but I wouldnt put my money in one.

We bought a Polaris Ranger. No modifications, thing is great. Hauled me, 250 lbs, another buddy 235 lbs and our buddy 220 and my 10 year old is another 70 lbs. Thats just 775 lbs of lard A@#, not including 6 40# bags of corn and a feeder. Total it was around 900 LBS. We went over hill and dale and the Ranger never missed a lick.

I'd not buy another utility vehilce. With a roof and cage on the back of the roll bars it was under $10,000 out the door.

Gator might be good if you hunt on a golf course.

Well, my wife says I might as well...I've got it all backwards anyway...I've got a golf cart for hunting. Why not have a UTV for the course?

This is supposedly more geared for rough, deerlease type terrain. It's considered a "trail" model, rather than a "turf" model. It has aggressive tread tires, instead of turf tread. It has a higher clearance than the turf models and has a heavier payload rating than the turf.
Here's are some pics and I can visualy see some of differences.

                  VS.

Something else I noticed, that's not pictured is that the 2nd has a manual lift bed and the 1st has a hydraulic lift. Also, the 1 I'm looking at has an after-market top made of square tubing and has a stainless platform completely covering the seats and bed. A dealer I talked to said he say that top at a dealer show and it retails for about $600. Of course, none of this stuff does me any good, if I get stuck on the way to my destination.
