    Toll bill question

Don't have a tag and get billed ever so often.

Just got a bill in the mail, shows one toll fee of $1.11 (incurred 6/18), processing fee of $1 and total amount due is $8.20

    What is going on here?
No other charges on statement (ie late fees or previous balance etc)
Naturally the payment place is out of commission while they update computers both phone and website.

Don't mind paying what I owe but wondering where the extra $6.09 came from

I did get a refund check in the mail the other day with no explanation of why the refund. Maybe the refund beat the bill? But the refund was more than $6.09

Don't know, I got one last week for $37.00 for three violations. Worth every penny just to keep moving along. I hate those things. Can't believe how close together they put those things.

What I don't understand is why anyone who drives on the toll roads even once a year does not have a TXTag. They're free if you let them debit your CC and cost nothing to stick on the windshield under the rearview mirror.

Takes less than 5 minutes to sign up and request one for each vehicle you own.

Why are debiting your credit card then? Is this the same as the EZ tag? My last employer was in Sugarland so I never had to deal with those things but our training facility is on the North side of H town so there inevitable. I would like to know more on this.

As much as I hate toll roads I have a Tx Tag on every vehicle that is sitting at my house. I hate their fees associated with the mail in bills.

I don't think there's any discounts anymore for having a toll tag, and I think they are planning on going up on the tolls

For one, there is only 1 toll road within a 100 miles of me and I very seldom get on it
Another reason, is why let the state set on your money if you rarely drive on the toll roads? The tag is "free" if you put a min of $20 in an account that is debited until it reaches $10 and then they take another $20 automatically to sit on. So they could be sitting on $30 for a long time if you use the toll road once a year. And for each additional tag you get they get another $20 up front

I did sign up for one today though because I will probably be using it more

Actually I have two tags, one on my pickup and one on the wife's car. They only hold $20 bucks and yes if you go below $10 they will take another $20. They do not hold $20 for each tag.

If I was worried about $20 I don't think I'd be driving the toll road at all.
