Looking for a nice hand gun, suggestions ?

My future daughter in law is wanting to buy my son a handgun for his birthday, I figured the family would all go in together so we could get him a nice one. We are thinking a 45 caliber, don't know if he would ever carry but just as well get one that will conceal fairly well. We really do not have a budget in mind but it does not have to be gold plated, lol. We are thinking about a Kimber, open for suggestions.

Springfield Loaded Champion! Can't go wrong with a springer.

I'd go STI before Kimber for a 1911....talk to Chrisgunguy on here. If also look hard at the HK VP9, the newest striker fired pistol out and it's getting rave reviews from top people in the industry, however it is 9mm. Another excellent choice on the higher end of things is the HK45c. Very nice conceal carry compact .45.

1911 is always a good choice. For me, there is no other pistol that feels more comfortable in my hand than a 1911.

I just bought a brand new Shooter Arms 1911 (made in the Philippines) from PSA on an online deal they had for $320. It's the shorter barrel one. Very smooth slide and shoots great.

Here ya go, I would stay away from kimber I feel their prices have gone up and the quality has gone down. If you want to get real fancy look at Wilson combat and nighthawk.

I had a sig 1911 that I really liked, but my Kimber just felt better. Regardless of tbe brand you choose, I would go with some sort of 1911. Just love them

I am partial to Sig but would love to shoot a Five-Seven.
Low recoil and can defeat body armor out to 110 yards.
Like in movies where they just keep shooting and never reload
                Good video here

i have used and carried 1911's for over 30 years,,, i love them but take a look at the Kahr cw45, very smooth great trigger and at least to me fits the hand a lot better than a glock,, darn near as good as a 1911

full size pistols are nice until they become a chore due to size and weight, ever thought of a smaller framed weapon? to large = no carry no defense. right size = carry always always armed just my .02 cents .

I carry a commander length STI 1911 on a full size frame daily. Not hard to do at all.
Check out the STI line if your interested in a 1911. They are top tier guns.

Personally, I do not like 1911s for concealed carry. I would look at Springfield XDM or XDS. Besides going with something like an STI (which would be an amazing gift), I like the Springfields for a "store bought" gun
