I need about 5 feet of 36" pipe. My FIL and I are going to build a BBQ pit and I need to get some pipe.
Anyone have a lead on where I can pick some up fairly cheap?
36" pipe on the cheap, that's rates up there with finding cheap .22 bullets. Go to your local salvage yards, have them keep an eye out for you, other than that take StanR up on his offer.
I can help you out with transporting it and (?) Monday if you need a hand...
Can you cut it?
The problem is my FIL lives down in Santa Fe, so I'd have to haul the tank down there, cut the ends off, then haul the ends back up to Stan.
Also, I'm not sure if he would cut it. I know some people are leery about cutting old propane tanks, not sure if he is or not.

We have some 36" pipe at my warehouse in Houston. it's a drop piece about 7ft long but it's not cheap. I would have to sell it for like 105.00ft and thats pretty cheap for a cut piece of 36" pipe. there are some surplus places in Houston but they might make you buy the whole 20-40ft joint of pipe.

I have no way of cutting it. I can help transport though if we can line up someone to cut it...
