They hang around for most of the year. Sometimes I loose them for a month or 2 when it rains and there's green grass and after opening gun season till around Thanksgiving

Theres a few regulars hanging around most of the time. New guys show up November - February. Regulars disappear for weeks at a time during the same period. Some of them show back up. Some don't.

This for me as well. I love hunting a place where every week brings a new surprise. That is the joy and agony of hunting a low fence place in a county that is mostly low fence.

The week after general season thru either mid October if we have a good acorn crop or mid-November when the doe poontang becomes more important than eating. If we have both, the mature deer disappear for a good while. They check in from time to time though and start showing back up in early December when the food supplies dwindle.... We do see some new deer during the rut so it all evens out.

When the "rut's over",they'll go to the Kickapoo Creek bottom, and I swear I won't see another mature buck til the next October..They have no reason to leave...

When I hunted a big place in west texas I would see the same group of bucks up until around thanksgiving then they would move on. Then a different group of bucks would move in.
