    Bobcat/ house cat mix

Has anyone ever seen a cross between the two or can it even happen? I swear two nights ago there was one at my house. Just mowed the hay field behind my house so got the varmint call out to see if I could call some yotes in right before it got dark and look to my left and there is the white face cat laying on the ground by some trees about 30 yards from me. We have some feral cats that come around but most of them are orange around my house. Couldn’t really see him so threw a rock at it and he jumped up and got a pretty good look at him through my scope. His face was white up to his ears and the rest of the cat had the coloring of a bobcat and he had stump tail just like a bobcat. I watched him for a couple of minutes and he was bigger than a regular cat and lot more stocky but not as tall as bobcat. I know I should of taken a picture but I usually only take pics of animals after I shoot them not before so I wasn’t prepared. We trapped this year behind my house and caught 6 bobcats so I know they are out there. Usually they eat the cats around my house instead of making babies with them. So can this even happen, has anyone ever seen a cross or am I the only one? Had Hamshire on here tell me it can’t happen. Lets see what the green screen says

I was going to shoot this one but wasn't sure what it was and didn't want to shoot one of the cats hanging around my house because they control the snakes and mice. But if I see him again he might not be so lucky.

Not sure what you saw...but Google "pixiebob" folks breed them & they aren't cheap. Its a cross of a domestic cat & bobcat. I can't post pics but a know a gal that has 2 of them. They get pretty big

IMO, I don't think it can happen.

Do I think it can happen? Most definitely.
We killed a big(15lb)cat in McCulloch county that was jet black with long, fine hair that had a body, head, tail and ears exactly like a Bobcat. It was a cool looking cat. Unfortunately the guy almost blew him in half with a ballistic tip. Or he would have been on my wall if not his.

Do I have DNA proof? No.

I had a friend in Dickinson TX about 15 years ago that bread them and sold them for big money. Had a male bobcat that was not very tam and a female house cat.

Seen one almost exactly like this on campus at A&M Kingsville. Same markings as a bobcat and the same tail, but a grayish color.
