Need advice on tv signal booster

We have direct tv and have 1 box split going to the kids rooms. We are not ready for them to have their own boxes. Anyway, their tv's have a fuzzy picture. I was thinking it was due to splitting the signal to 4 rooms all the way across the house. I did use an expensive splitter with a high hz or mhz or somehhing like that.

Can I put a signal booster between the box and their tv's? And if so, which booster?

A 15 dB RF amplifier should do the trick. Amp the signal before the splitter.

I used to have several of them. Let me check - I'll give you 1 if I still have some.

sattelite takes a special cable other than regular coax cable. I know I tried it once and it was very fuzzy and then the direct tv guy came out and used some grey colored cable and presto!

Anything after the satellite receiver will run on any coax. Between the dish and receiver all needs to be minimum RG6.

That would be great if you had one.

I will see if I can tell what kind of wire is running between the dish and the box. I set up the dish and ran the wire myself. Maybe I didnt run the right wire.

Looksike I'm out of the amps, or just can't find them. You can order one online - they're pretty inexpensive. Pico makes a good one...

If your satellite is working, chances are your wiring is good. When you use the thinner RG59 between the dish and receiver box you get issues with satellite reception. You'll have constant errors, missing channels and or "Searching for Signal" errors intermittently. After the box you are sending RF signals and RG59 will work, just not as well as better cable does. Also check your fittings on the cables as this can interfere with signal as well.
