I don't get that way, live in houston and have a ranch in mountain home. I would consider selling it. Can get some pictures later this week when I head up there.

I have put in several fall plots without tilling at all. Small seeded plants are the key.....elbon rye, clover, chicory, radishes, turnips, kale all work well with this method. Wheat would work too and I've had slightly poorer germination with oats because its a little bigger seed than rye or wheat.

Spray with roundup, wait a week to see if you got a good kill, if so then broadcast seed into the dead grass/weeds, then mow over the top. It works great. Obviously you need a good rain but its simple and fool proof if you get rain. Those seeds will work down into the soil perfectly with a good rain and will shoot right up through the dead thatch.

              Just another option for you.

I may have to try that uncle... I appreciate the advice!

where should I go to buy my seed? is the stuff they sell at academy ok? or should I be going to a local feed store or such?
                (total newbie here at plots!)

Following as I'm in the same boat without a drag. THought about moving my pig pipe around the glade I hunt in and let the pigs tear it up for me.

Interested in the seed purchasing question...
