This article really hits home for me. I am just what the author describes. I am constantly buying arrows, broadheads, fishing gear, and stuff for hunts that are a year away. Half the time I don't even use some of the stuff. I really do believe it is a money vs time sort of thing. This article makes me realize that I'm wasting money.

Ouch! That hurts! That article really describes me. Unfortunately I collect a lot of "stuff" and don't really enjoy much of it. It is really time for the wife and me to declutter our lives. I'm going to show her this article even if it means buying less stuff for me. Thanks for posting this.

Guns, particularly my AR15, are my poison. There's always some accessory that "I need". Usually when I get it, its not as good as i thought it would be so I end up replacing it with something else.
Same thing with my bow. I've changed the rest three times, the stabilizer a couple times, etc.
Fly fishing is another hobby that can get out of control. I've learned to scale down that hobby though and I keep it very simple.
I've got buddies that have just a couple simple rifles and a shotgun. They use them, know them, leave them alone and just enjoy shooting and hunting. Instead of buying pointless accessories, they enjoy what they have. They collect experiences and memories instead of gadgets.
Thanks for sharing.

Good read. As a hobby knife maker I can't exactly relate because everything I buy is something that is going to save me time. EXCEPT wood. I have more interesting pieces of wood than I could probably use in a years time. As far as tools/machinery, I heard an old knife maker describe the hobby as a lifetime of collecting tools and then you die.
