Out of my comfort zone but I did it!

I took my very own kayak out on Lake Ray Hubbard tonight and I loved it! I have bone issues from a car wreck and I have spent good money after bad money trying to find a physical activity I can do, enjoy and get something out of it (in between deer season of course). Well, I think I found it, kayaking! I was shocked I liked it. I HATE THE WATER and I can't swim. I almost drowned as a kid and just never took to the water. I took the lessons, I read, researched, we bought the equipment and when we pulled up to the water at 7:25 p.m. I was already seeing the for sale sign as I was terrified, but I did it!

My only regret I did not have my camera with me. I saw all kinds of critters and wished for my camera more then once!

It was such a stress reliever to just drift and watch the shad hit the top of water!

It is good to be me sometimes !

Sounds like you had a good time. Be careful out there when the wind gets up, it can get pretty rough out there on the power plant side of the lake.

Keep an eye out for them gators that are out there too.

Buy a better PFD than a kayak. And later on buy a really good paddle. Both money well spent and will help you enjoy your new sport even more. Kayaks are just way fun.

Congrats, Cat! That's so awesome that you confronted a fear like that. Kudos for the conquest and the new found passion.

Very cool, Cat! Now you need to get yourself a fishing rod and get after it

Way to go. I got my son one of these from Cabelas when he hunts the Sac River for ducks when it's flooding, I figure if I can't stop him, at least I can try to protect him. You may consider getting one. They're on sale in the Cabelas bargain cave now.

I'd still learn how to swim with a good instructor.

                    Ain't it fun .

If you do end up fishing from it make sure your hubby is near by to help land the fish until you get the hang of it. ( I watched a buddy roll his recently doing such).

It is easy to troll while paddling around.
A shallow diving small crankbait will get the attention of almost any fish swimming by.
