    Chill x ?

Has any body shot it next to the chill r? I am going to before I buy either one. I was set on the r but I went to the store and saw the x which is a little longer ata and that is good for my big frame plus the more forgiving brace height. Just curious what the other long armed archers thought?

The x is way better imo hard wall, longer ata, faster, more balanced, just better all the way around. (and I am a Hoyt guy)
It holds very well, its very quiet, I may get one, and retire my alpha max.

I believe the wall is better because of the different mods they are using. And from what I have been told the "rock mods" can be added to a chill r giving it a better back wall.

Having a 30" DL would I be better off with the extra 2" ata and longer brace height or are we just splitting hairs?

I just bought a new ChillR and I put the 85% LO Rock mods on. I really like that back wall with the new 85 mods.
I did shoot the X before I ordered the R. It also shot awesome, I just prefer the shorter ATA with my 28" DL and my tight hunting spots.

Yes you would. I have a 31.5" draw, the string angle on a longer ata bow is better for us long draw guys. It puts the peep closer to your eye which makes it easier to aim. The longer ata will also help you hold better. This is the main reason I have not bought a new hoyt, They have gone down to 34" on their hunting bows. I shoot a 36" alpha elite for target and it fits me like a glove.

Call Brian at On Target Archery. He just switched from the chill R to the X and has a 32" draw. He would have some good insight for you and is not biased on brands. They are a sponsor on here.

What does the 85% rock mods change the IBO speed to on the R!

I think with the 75% rock mods it is, but I could be wrong.

I just bought my daughter the chill sdx and it is shooting 43fps faster than her old bow with the same arrows at the same draw weight And that is with the 85% rock mods. It is very impressive.

The specs I saw put the x 6 fps slower than the r at ibo ratings

                        There's not much difference.
The original mods are 80% and the new rock mods are 75 and 85.
The chrono difference between the 75 and 85 on my 60 lb draw setup was @ 4fps, but the back wall difference was huge. It feels like the 75 was shortening the draw length some and the 85 back wall is awesome; Zero creep, I can hold forever...mayb longer (grin).

Not a huge difference IMO. I actually prefer the r to the x, because I've gotten better speed with the same mods. The rock mods are the way to go though... They provide the best bow on the market, again IMO.

So what you are saying is the 85 may be the way to go for better comfort and shootability? I will have to see if I can shoot both at the shop when I go
