    6-pack license?

Able to get this in the next few years at no cost. What is the benefit other than being a guide.
Wouldn't mind transporting boats from one port to the other when i wasnt doing anything else once retired but have no idea if there is any demand for it.

I can get all the hours logged and any and all costs covered by my current employer. Just wondering what type of retirement jobs this may open up.

    Thanks
    Glen

I'm think you will want to add on to it. Besides guide you maybe be able to drive a pilot boat with a 6pack

I have mine. You may find opportunity on an environmental job if we have another oil spill.

If you have the hours for a 6-pack why not go for the Masters? Mine is a Masters up to 25 ton, all I did was guide inshore charters. Same test, same everything.

I think the pilot boats require a Masters license

It's a Coast Guard Captain's license that most fishing guides get. It allows the captain to take up to 6 people out on charter. That is where the 6-pack reference came from.

I seen the title and said what good is that when they come in 30 packs now.

                Then read on.

                Lol

                Good luck

with a name like OUPV, they had to come up with a good nickname

used it to ferry yachts up the intercoastal canal before hurricanes hit the coast. it was good money for a college kid.

never did figure out if we really had to have the license, because we were all piled in my truck, then taking the boats up the canal individually (so no passengers).

When we took some boats for delivery to Alabama and Florida, the broker sure wanted to see my license before he turned us loose with that sucker I think he may have been a little nervous when I asked him how to work those fancy side-thrusters! (btw, I was just jacking with him.....)
