Chasing snapper the next couple of days

Heading out of Port Mansfield Thursday and Friday to see what's biting in the gulf. We are going to start in state waters for Red Snapper then head to the oil rigs to try for Mangrove Snapper and Baracuda. I will let y'all know how it goes when we get back tomorrow.

I would not take any red snapper that you caught in State Waters out into Federal waters if that is where the oil rigs are. If you going to fish for them, then do it on your way in. Might keep you out of alot of trouble.

X2. You are asking for trouble. Coast Guard is out in full force right now. You'll get buzzed by their jet and be boarded by the Cutter in less than an hour. We've been boarded out last two trips. You guys be safe.

I talked to a state game warden and he said it didn't matter if we caught them before we headed to federal waters or on our way in. I would hope he knows what he is talking about.

FYI - Bobster (post 2) is a state game warden.

Well it was a good day today. Almost everybody limited out on Red Snapper. We also caught a couple of kingfish. None of the snapper were monsters, but I prefer to clean the smaller ones.

This is the biggest one I caught.

Here is my son with one of his snapper.

And one of our buddies with a kingfish.

Looks to have been fairly calm out there. Congrats on the fish. Going to be some good eating.

It was pretty calm both days. Friday was a little rougher but the snapper were biting better. There were 9 of us and we all got a limit. Most of them were in the 6 to 10 lbs range.

Here is one of my son's catch

Here are two of my wife's catches.
