Behind the times, what the heck is Skyping??

I received a phone call from a prospective client and have been asked to do a interview with overseas project managers via Skype.

This will be the third interview with this client and I'm told this will be the final one to decide my placement on the team and put me back in the major league of sorts.

I have heard the term "Skyping" a few times but never gave it a second thought and now I need a crash course and only have a few days to prepare for this interview.

To skype with someone in a business fashion usually means to hold a video conference with them through your computers on a program called skype. Skype is a free service that will let you have free computer to computer calls through an internet connection or will let you use a small camera attached to the computer through USB cable that sends a live feed of what it sees and hears to the other computer while simotaniously receiving a similar feed from the other users computer. For long distance hires, it lets a company interview you much like they would in person. They don't catch quite all the nuances but get a much better feel for the prospect than just through phone call.

While some laptops have a camera built in, you will most likely need to buy one (assuming you don't already own one) radio shack or best buy are both good choices. Make sure you wear something decent and have a decent area behind you as they will be seeing you.

Sorry for some of the duplicate info, typed it up on my ipad.

Thanks for the info brother, I was told this interview will be their offer and I will be given more information about the slot that they wish me to fill, nevertheless I'm excited about what I have heard so far and if it pans out will keep me busy for the next 18 months.
