    Austin bound.................

Starting in mid September till late November I will be in Austin. I plan on coming back too see my family every other weekend. I will be in a school for 10 weeks. I don't think it is feasible to come home every weekend.

Gimme some ideas of stuff to do around Austin. I'm not into the party scene etc. 6th Street and all that stuff doesn't do nothing for me. I don't mine a cold beer and a nice pub without the BS that comes with some other spots. I will most definitely try the BBQ places. Any other eating places etc I must go to?

I also gave the fishing some thought. I hear Austin Lake is on fire right now. I will be staying close to DPS headquarters. I plan a visit to see my 3 brothers at the wall as well. Throw some stuff out for me, please.

    It's Lake Austin btw
Barton springs, Rainy street for some cool bars (not your typical 6 street shenanigans), lots a good places to eat down around the headquarters area, Huts Hamburgers on west 6th, Torchys Tacos is a must eat, Mt. Bonnell, Kayak ladybird lake, Broken Spoke, Peter Pan put put (byob), just ones on the top of my head.

You can run up the road to Georgetown and head down 29 to Double G archery. They have club shoots on Tuesday nights. They are open Tuesday thru Saturday and Paul would be glad to see you.
You can go to the Oasis on lake Travis. Nice place to eat and see what's left of the lake.
If you try to go to Franklin's bbq, you better pretty much camp out over night. I would suggest that you and some friends pitch in and order a whole brisket and share it amongst yourselves.
If you aren't opposed to a little travel, you can fish Lake Bastrop or
      Fayette lake in La Grange.
Hope this help and you have some fun.

Make the trip down to Lockhart for some great barbecue without the headache of waiting in long lines. There is a 3D archery range somewhere in Bastrop that I've heard about.

For what sport? I think you're between seasons on everything.

If football, shouldn't be too bad.

Since you're staying near DPS HQ, Anderson Ln between Mopac and Burnet is loaded with good places to eat.

Vert's Kebap is greatness, Magnolia Cafe on Lake Austin Blvd is really good and serves the best burger you'll find anywhere along with great breakfast foods.
