    Question for AC guys

I may not use the correct terminology but think this will make sense. Yesterday afternoon I noticed dripping from the pipe outside of the attic coming from the inside unit drain pan. This means the drain line to the bathroom sink was clogged, correct?

I unhooked the drain hose that goes to the bathroom sink. Poured hot water down the tube in the attic that goes to the sink and had my wife catch it in a coffee can to clear the clog. Once it was unclogged I hooked it back up to the sink and went back to the attic and poured some bleach down the same pipe.

There isn't any water dripping from the drain pan anymore so I know what I did helped. But, I can hear gurgling at the sink where the unit is supposed to drain. I assume that's a good thing because a know its draining like it should. Should I be concerned with the gurgling sound or is that just something I never really noticed before?

I'm not an A/C man, but I have dabbled in it a little. I had the same problem on my previous house and I had a clogged pea trap. I took it apart, cleaned it up and reinstalled. Done deal.
I hear a gurgling noise at my upstairs sinks also. It's been there for 3 years.

The noise you hear is normal run some water through the sink (fill the "p" trap) and it may stop

I'd be happy to come look at it this next week

Thanks for the offer Ron but I think it's fine. Is it a good idea to pour some bleach (or something else) down that spout in the attic on a regular basis to keep the pipe from clogging? If so, how often is recommended? I sure don't want to ever have the drip pan overflow and leak into the house and have to replace the sheetrock.

Yes it's a good idea to pour something in it to keep it open and flowing
          Bleach
          Vinegar
One of the other not both
Every 3-4 months make sure that sink gets used occasionally also that will keep that in that it flushed out

The gurgling sound is the unit sucking air up the drain. There should be a small p trap in the primary drain of the unit in the attic fill that trap with water and the gurgling should go away. It's also important because the trap being empty may keep water from draining properly from the unit.

Primary drain being the line that goes to the sink, correct? Is that p trap close to the unit or further down the line?

P trap on the primary drain line is usually close to the unit.
