    grandsons pigs....

My youngest grandson Dylan just turned eight and had a nice shiney pig stickin knife just wasting away.....so I took him hog hunting. Went to a friends camp not far above Mobile Al on Tuesday evening. Camp was right on the bank of the Alabama River below Jackson Al.

Wednesday we hunted behind the camp by buggy. The dogs, Catahoulas, jumped several hogs but they hit the river and took the dogs with them. We spent a long hard, HOT day chasing pigs and dogs. We "earned" several hogs but never closed the deal.

Thursday we loaded the boat and went up an old oxbow lake and turned out. In less than an hour Dylan closed the deal on his first hog with a knife....

While we were getting the 4wheeler Danny keeps there, retrieving the hog, the Cats jumped, ran. and bayed another hog 1.8 miles away. Thank goodness for that 4wheeler....

Dylan has killed four deer, and a hog with his 223, but this is his first time up close and personal. He did fine and wants to go again...soon. Pop Pop needs to rest up first.....

I'm jealous of you getting to do stuff with your grandson that I am not getting to do with mine.

Barn, he has lived with my half of his life due to his family problems. Bad for him and I hate it for him, but it has allowed me to spend a LOT of time with him. I am doing my best to give him lots of experiences, at the same time teaching him manners and those things that will stand by him his whole life. He is fast becoming a fine young man....too fast sometimes it seems.

I have two other grandsons that I rarely see, so I do know yer feeling. It is not a good one. All the best to you and yours...
