Have any of you ever heard of this? I didn't even know this was a thing. Someone is going to end up getting killed over these stupid pranks.

Apparently it is a new thing to get the IP address and thus physical address of someone you are playing an online game with and then if you lose, you call the local law enforcement of the person that beat you and report a violent crime or active shooter so that SWAT is sent to their house. Points are awarded based on the size of the police response. How many police officers show up, is SWAT on scene, how many helicopters, type of entry into the home, are flash bangs used, etc. This is crazy. I can see someone getting hurt or killed not to mention the huge waste of money. resources and time responding to this crap.

Yup, for a little while, people were calling in pranks and getting famous people swatted out in Hollywood.

§ 42.06. FALSE ALARM OR REPORT. (a) A person commits an

other emergency that he knows is false or baseless and that would
ordinarily:

transportation, public water, gas, or power supply or other public
service, in which event the offense is a state jail felony.

Serious offense in Texas - $4K fine and 1 year in jail if convicted, $10K fine and 2 years in jail if carried out in a public service venue.
