Question for Gearheads

I'm hearing an occasional grinding kinda sound every so often from front driver wheel area.
I was thinking bearings, but when I jacked the truck up, there was no play in the wheel. Could it be the locking hub causing the noise?

I had a manual hub on my toyota fall apart. It would make a loud popping noise going down the road at 55+mph and hitting a bump. Took cap off it it just fell apart. Replaced and no more noise.

Mine hasn't fallen apart yet, but I just took it off and spun the wheel, no strange noise.
