Have you hit the mat? How does it treat your arrows. I'm not really concerned with what lies beyond the target, more about loosing arrows.

Might also try shooting some steel blunts. Smaller chance they'll punch through.

Square bales of hay work and don't hurt your arrows. However they don't last and will not hold up long in rain. Outdoor carpet will work well if you attatch it across the top and let the bottom hang. It will knock your arrows down without damage. A 6x8 piece from Home Depot is $19.99 right now. Got one yesterday.
