    Axis in Edna

I was walking around on my girlfriends ranch off of 822 in Edna calling for some yotes Saturday evening when I seen something catch my eye. I lifted my gun up to see a big axis buck and a doe feeding about 100 yards away on the neighboring property. Has anyone seen any in this area or were they most likely runaways from a exotic ranch?

I work in Edna area and hunt in Victoria. Pretty sure those are escapees. A few high fences and breeders up in that area.

I defiantly would have ground checked em if they were on my side. I figured they were escapees but sure was cool to see. Have you killed any good deer off of 822?

I'm about 2 miles down on the right if you turn off of 111. There's a little White House on the side of the road with a little barn.

I love how these threads pop up and you see how small a world it is. One of the pipelines I take care of runs all through this area up and down 822. Have seen some pretty decent deer in the area

I guess about 2-3 years ago they ran a pipeline right on the edge of their property. Real close to wear the axis were posted up. We've killed a ton of hogs and deer one of the neighbor fellas has trapped close to 60 since last deer season!

I saw 2 axis about 9 years ago on the Lavaca river when we were baling hay right off of CR 127. My guess is they got out from a couple of the high fence ranches further up 822. Pretty cool sight around here
