    220W extension help!!!

Ok guys so I have this Itailian pump. It's used to move wine from one barrel to another. The problem is the **** cord is so short. What cord do I need to use to make it longer. I can splice it and do all of that bit I'm not sure on what the amps need to be for the extension cord. Below are the pics of the pump and all the labeling on it. Help me out here please. My knowledge on this is very limited.

How much cord do you need. Length of cord will have a lot to do with it.

Motor only draws 3 amps. Just about anything will do that. Are you splicing an extension cord or using wire (stranded or romex)? I would say anything 14ga or bigger will do as long as the run isn't crazy long.

Well I bought the biggest one I could find and was splicing it. But now I'm going to go get my friends welder extension cord and see if that will work for a temporary fix.

100' I'd go with 12gauge if it were mine.

Based on the wire size calculators online #12 should work.

Thanks for the help guys. The welder extension won't work bc of the connectors so I'll prob be buying a new cord and I'll go with 12g

The L14p plug that is on your pump is generally used for 240v equipment that needs a neutral. So it has 4 terminals to connect conductors to. 1 terminal is for A phase, 1 terminal for B phase, 1 terminal for the neutral, and 1 terminal for the ground.
My guess is that your pump doesn't require a neutral and that there is only 3 wires connected to the plug with the neutral terminal being empty. If this is the case, the easiest solution would be to buy a 12 gauge extension cord and cut the cord caps off and replace them with a new L14p plug and L14r receptacle.
I hope I didn't make that sound too confusing.
