    butcher block countertops

Anyone have a trade or company that does them. How do they compare in price to granite? I have a client that possibly wants some but I haven't done them nor know much about them, so I thought I'd see if a tbher does these before I go looking elsewhere.

i did them myself from ikea. The countertops have a 30 year warranty with them. Prolly cost me 600-700$ in materials.

I bought one for laundry room from lumber liquidators. Best price I could find.

I need a big custom design for an island. Kind of like a 1/4 circle shape, Straight on 2 sides and curved on the other.

I believe there was a good write up on them in the DIY forum a little while back.

I'd question the cleanliness of butcher block. They used to be really bad for holding germs in the cuts/scratches (so I read). They might have changed to where that is no longer an issue, but I doubt it.

I build custom solid wood counter tops for a living. Face grain, edge grain, and end grain (Butcher block).
Granite is cheaper on average. But everyone has granite.

Cost depends alot on wood species and thickness.

Look up Work bench tops at WW Grainger. They are butcher blocks!

True Butcher blocks are end grain construction. The ones you are referring to are edge grain.
They are also not much to look at.
